Republic Day

India after two and half years of drafting and debate adopted a written constitution on 26th January 1950 and India became republic.

Yesterday we celebrated the 62nd anniversary of this event and wow the flag flutters with such grace in our celebrations.

To mark this occasion, a grand parade is held near Rajpath in New Delhi and all state capitals. This is an occassion to show off the latest defence acquisitions and developments. This years' highlights were the 'Tejas' the Light Combat Aircraft, Brahmos Launcher System, T-90 "Bheeshma" tanks, Multi Barrel Rocket System 'Pinaka' and Tactical Control Radar 'Reporter'. Notable were the NBC (Nuclear- Biological-Chemical) Reconnaissance Vehicle, indigenous Pontoons Movable Section Bridge, Integrated Network Platform and armoured troop carrier Prahar 510.

Amongst the tableau 'Save the Tiger' from I think CPWD was the best.

We did our own celebrations and the picture above took a lot of effort in the making.

When we launched our flag we discovered it went upside down

We were unwilling to salute an upside down flag and therefore it had to be taken down and re-pinned.

The hands here are offering the pins and between the hands is our lovely organizer of the event.

Having got the flag up is the National Anthem time and the enthusiasm lent the group to sing "Vande Materam"
